When it comes to muscle cars I have preferred old Mopar but in the search for Ford Falcons on craigslist and learning everything I can about 60's Ford I have learned more about these puppies and Pappa likes. The 1968/9 Ford Torino/Fairlane available from fastback to coupe ,4 door to wagon and with every motor from the 200 l6 to the 428 Cobra jet. Not only that but they have great race history from their days in NASCAR when NASCAR was awesome! To top it all off they're not too expensive! More pics below

Back in 1968 my dad had a 427 Cobra Jet Fairlane two door sedan. He ordered the two door fastback, but the order got screwed up. The car was sitting on the lot for about 3 weeks before they realized it was his car.

I think it's his favorite out of all the muscle cars he had (GT350, AC Cobras*, etc). He was a Ford guy back then. Sort of. He doesn't admit to it now, he'll crack something negative about any manufacturer these days. He ended up keeping the Fairlane for 8 months before selling it, because it was simply too expensive to keep, even then (as he likes to say). He was constantly putting new spark plugs in it or fixing things. It was a 4 speed, and as he recalls (probably very vividly) you could pop the clutch in *any gear* and it would peel out and leave the tires behind. Good for 60 in first gear, 90 in second. Fastest he ever admits to taking it is 124 on a closed airport runway (he dated an airline stewardess back then). It was a two tone Sea Green color. Sea Green in daylight, and under street lights it looked blue.

He hates going to car shows because of that Fairlane though. In all the car shows I've gone to, I've never seen a Fairlane like what he had. He goes to shows once in a while, and then just complains to me later that there were no Fairlanes like what he had.

*He had several AC Cobras, almost all of the different street models (mostly 427s). He didn't keep any of them. For some reason......

My dad has a '69 Torino GT fastback. 351W and a column-shift auto. It's our only automatic car (of 7 total) but it's the cruiser.
These are the old wheels (now on my car) currently it's sitting on some awesome 17'' magnum 500s
